As part of Cologne’s sustainable urban development strategy, the city is extending the StadtBahn Süd tram line to connect the city centre with the southern districts of Rondorf and Meschenich. The route crosses the Arnoldshöhe roundabout, marking one end of Germany’s first Autobahn, the A555, which links Cologne and Bonn. Each end of the Autobahn is defined by the 50-meter red Standortmitte sculptures. The new tram bridge sweeps elegantly across the junction, integrating modern public transport infrastructure with the historic road network while carefully acknowledging and respecting the nearby cultural landmark.
